I found in a podcast, Dr. Dan Siegel talks about how the way we are brought up influences the way we bring up our kids the power of the past on our parenting. He also describes how parents can use reflection and self-awareness to make good parenting decisions today.  Research show that parents need to be aware of the facts of the past so they do not continue to past on the things that should not be done. Dr. Dan Siegel was involved with a research where the way parent communicate with their children influence the development of their children. 20 percent of children fail to avoid to help children develop their emotions and social development and it causes children to grow up not being able to express their feels. I thought Dr. Siegel made some interesting comments about how parenting affects children from their parents. Research is being done daily on the way to help children develop healthy.  

Equity and Excellence in Early Care and Education

Following some outside sources I found a article that talks about expanding access to early head start and how important it is for babies to begin development skill from birth. All babies need good health, strong families, and positive early learning experiences to foster their healthy intellectual, social, and emotional development.1 Unfortunately, far too few young children receive the supports they need to build a strong foundation for future growth. Infants and toddlers living in households under great economic stress are more likely to face challenges that negatively impact their development. Research shows that young children growing up in poverty experience poorer health, higher incidence of developmental delays and learning disabilities, hunger, and more reported cases of abuse and neglect compared to their peers.

I found that taking cue from NBC’s recent EducationNation Summit, it occurred that NTI is where the Baby Education Nation gathers each year. In the large K-12 space of the Summit, the idea that school readiness starts at birth doesn’t find much room. A segment and case study of Educare on the EducationNation website did highlight how high quality services support early development. But despite the fact that important brain development takes place during the first three years and many vulnerable babies fall behind during that period, babies still don’t pull much weight in the big kid education world.  At NTI, babies are front and center in discussions about development and learning, and giving all children the best possible start in life is a subject that excites much passion.

The information I found from the website Zero to Three gave me understanding of equity and excellence in early care and education. From the two article you can read how negativity can effect children and how it can delay a child in educational growth verses a child that is not exposed to economic stress factors. Other insights that I found was how the EducationNation Summit was so effective and informing everyone who works with children as well as families about how important development is at the age of birth. I influence a child way before the public school years.

The website or organization I choose is relevant for me in my professional development because it gives me information that is helpful in the classroom as well as for the parents for children Zero to Three. I am currently a twos teacher and most people consider that the busiest classroom. The organization gives me information through newsletters on eating, sleeping, fun activities, and the whole child development.

Ideas on the website I found didn’t cause me to have controversial or made me think about an issue in new ways. The website is very informative about issues children may have and the best solutions for correcting the issue. This website helps me to come up with ideas on helping the children learn different skill through play. I really love reading information on the Zero to Three website.

The website helps me to understand how economists, neuroscientists, or politicians support the early childhood field by having supportive information about the well being of young children. It also shows me that they are funded because the website is accurate and have ideas for parents and teachers to help their children to grow up and become healthy and developmentally stable.

I did not find any new issues but information on babies and their growth process.

Podcast Contacts and Poverty Issues

I haven’t received a response to the participants of the podcast. The podcasts have been giving a lot of information about children which is helpful for teachers as well as parents. I really enjoyed the podcast about children with behavioral problems and learning some effective methods to help. Most people call the twos the stage of terrible twos but I just consider my twos as very curious and active. Having curious and active twos I received methods to help them to better manage their behaviors.  My new insights and information about the issues of poverty was very informative. I learned that the world is facing a demand for help with poverty in children and families. I also learned about different organizations that are helping children and families locally and nationally. I learned how poverty can affect the development of children and cause major developmental and psychological issues.
