  1. I love the quotes that you have posted because they are so true! We all need to take care of our children like they are ours, it takes a village to raise a child, so that includes everyone being included in the village to see successful children.

  2. You chose two great quotes. Your first quotes helps me to acknowledge that ,yes we are here to provided our students with the academics and knowledge base that they need, but there is a lot more to being a teacher. Often times we as educator are all the adult interaction and emotional support that some of our students receive. I have come in to situations where if the school family (that being me and my colleagues) does not care no one else will. We have had to give certain students baths, of course feed, and some time just tell them that we love them. If you don’t have a caring heart and have empathy on what children might be experiencing at home you might as well not even commit yourself to teaching.

  3. Ooh, that second quote really intrigues me to read more from Marian Wright Edelman. What a challenge to us not to push young children into that cookie cutter mold. The expectation in our education system is clearly to sit-n-soak-n-spit back information. Children who learn differently or struggle with this approach are left frustrated and it is most certainly not an effective way to teach young children. Adults can serve children best by celebrating them for the unique qualities that they possess, allowing them to shine as they were created to do. Great Quote!

  4. We do need to care about everyone else's children because we work with children and they trust and learn from us. This is how we build positive relationship with children and families and support their maximum potentials. I love the quote from Edward Zigler.
